Post images
One image or a carousel selected together in Instagram’s initial file picker.
Extension support
The exact behavior being tested for Instagram Posts on desktop Chrome and Firefox, plus what to check when the image control is unavailable.
Current status
Chrome and Firefox builds are being checked against Instagram’s current desktop Post composer. Store release remains gated on verified file replacement without resetting the ratio, carousel order, or Crop state.
Supported test scope
One image or a carousel selected together in Instagram’s initial file picker.
Supported images keep the corresponding JPEG or PNG file type. Changed JPEG pixels are locally re-encoded at the browser encoder’s maximum requested quality.
Supported images use the selected mode. Video files pass through unchanged and keep their position.
If any selected image is unsupported, animated, or unreadable, the whole selection returns to the original files instead of mixing transformed and original results.
Troubleshooting
The control is intentionally hidden outside Instagram’s desktop Create Post Crop step. It does not appear in Stories, Reels, Profile, Edit, or Filter screens.
For the current test scope, select every carousel file in the initial picker. Adding more files afterward returns to Instagram’s native behavior.
Use the latest Chrome or Firefox build and confirm the extension is enabled. If Instagram’s interface no longer matches safely, the control stays hidden.
If a file cannot be processed or the Crop state cannot be kept stable, the extension is designed to restore the original selection and leave Instagram’s native upload available.
Privacy and stored preferences
The extension reads selected files only to render the requested Post frame in your browser. Resize Image For does not receive or remotely store image pixels.
